You want a seven part séance – okay. Spirts possessing people manifesting injuries – fine. Ectoplasm – great. However, what you must get right is the human side of things. Both narrators are unreliable witnesses. They have zero intuition. I get some misdirection but this was excessive and unnecessary.
You can be pretty certain of the killer with 3 hours left in the book. I was tempted to skip to the end but kept with it. I wish I didn’t. I guess the events that followed could be called twists but they were just frustrations. I wasn’t in love with the main characters to begin with. The last 3 hours was just incompetence after incompetence. The “twists” had very little effect on the end result of the book.
Spoilers
Our so called heroine can’t work a candlestick or letter opener. Instead of trying…. I don’t know…. the candle stick again she locks her friend in with the killer. WHAT??? Then she conveniently decides she hates her friend anyways. NOPE, Nope, Nope. At this point I’m done trying to like this leading female. I just can’t.
