I’ve started a lot of books lately that I haven’t finished. Here’s just a few quick notes on these books. They didn’t keep my interest and/or I just wasn’t in the mood for them at the time.
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

This one I was planning on finishing but the library loan ran out of time. I love the female lead and I want to know more about her cooking show and daughter. However, there was a long back story before getting back to current events. I made it thorough 30% of the audiobook. Great character development and details, but it moves a little slow.

This book started off strong. The female lead was interesting. All the comparisons to hallmark type movies was catchy. Unfortunately, I felt the chemistry between the male lead and female lead was off. They felt like new friends to me. The male would say all the right things with nothing to really back it up.
I got bored. Even though I was 80 % done with the book I didn’t finish it. I had conflicting feeling about it because I was so close to the end. I thought about skipping to the end but I wasn’t invested enough in these two to even do that.
One Night on the Island by Josie Silver

I’m over 30% through this one. It’s still on my library shelf but I doubt I’ll finish it. There hasn’t been any chemistry and I don’t feel the male lead is ready for a new relationship. I assume this is just a really slow burn and will eventually get there.
Donut Fall in Love by Jackie Lau

I read one of this authors stories recently and it was steamy. I was looking for something HOT and thought I would check her out. I’m 33 percent into this book, it’s still on my library shelf but don’t think I’ll finish this one. The chemistry is a little off and the book is moving a little slow.
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

Made it over 30 percent through this one. While I liked all the characters there was no action. Nothing was happening.
The Layover by Lacie Waldon

There is something off with the leading female. She isn’t relatable. She isn’t close to any friends or family, its concerning. She is recently engaged and the leading male isn’t her fiancé. I made it 30 percent through this book before giving up. There is some humor that keeps the book moving but I can’t connect with the female lead.
Who Thought This Was a Good Idea? By Alyssa Mastronmonaco with Lauren Oyler

This one was always a long shot for me. It was short so I gave it a chance. I made it 30 percent through. There are some interesting parts but not enough to keep me listening.
